About Osteopathy

Osteopathic practice is a safe and effective form of prevention, diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of health issues.

Osteopaths are highly trained healthcare professionals who are experts in the musculoskeletal system (joints, muscles and associated tissues) and its relationship to other systems of the body, to keep you as healthy as you can be. Osteopaths see people of all ages from babies to the elderly and everyone in between, including pregnant women and elite athletes. You do not need to consult your GP before you visit an osteopath, although you may wish to do so.

What would I expect from a treatment

The first appointment here will last between 45 minutes and one hour. In this time, a full medical case history will be taken, and questions will be asked about the area that is painful and the history of any other aches and pains that may have occurred in the past.

After this a thorough examination of the area will take place. This may require you to undress as to expose the area.

After the examination a diagnosis will be given. From this point depending on the case history and findings from the examination, treatment will be given. Along with osteopathic treatment patients will also be given advice on exercise and posture to aid a speedy recovery.
